It’s official — we’re the Triratna Buddhist Community

It’s official! The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order is now known as the Triratna Buddhist Community. We marked this occasion worldwide on Wesak Day 2010.  Here’s a video of Padmavajra’s talk about this at the International Retreat at Taraloka in Wales.

“Triratna” (pronounced ‘tri-RUT-nuh’) means “Three Jewels”, and refers to the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha – the ideal of Enlightenment, the Path leading to Enlightenment, and the Community of those following the Path respectively. The name reminds us of what is most important in the spiritual life, and what it is we are trying to help bring into the world.
